NAMI Facilitators and Teachers

Volunteer Training

Thank you for your interest in being an instructor or facilitator for one of our classes or support groups. NAMI Support Groups and classes are peer-led by trained teams who have lived experience with mental health. Please review the guidelines for each group below.

We ask that all facilitators have access to a computer and have basic computer skills. We also ask that all facilitators attend a 2 ½ day free training (may be offered online or in-person depending on Covid-19 restrictions) in addition to the below.

For groups

  • Commit to co-facilitating a support group for at least three years
  • Attend a group at least three times within the year before attending training

For instructors

  • Attend the class before attending training (as long as one is offered online or within a 50 mile radius)
  • Teach a class at least once a year for three years
